School Transport Applications

School transport applications open in May yearly. However, if an online application has not been filled in yet, please follow the below procedure.
All late applicants who are applying for school transport for the first time, need to go personally to The Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR) and visit the One Stop Shop for education related services in Floriana. Further details can be found by visiting the school transport website.

Change of Route

Route numbers/pick-up/drop-off points are assigned by The Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR). Should anyone have an issue with the route assigned, such queries must be referred to the MEYR by calling 25981888 or via email schooltransport@gov.mt.

Expected Behaviour

It is important to note that the provision of School Transport is a privilege not a right!

Students using school transport are expected to be on their best behaviour throughout the journey to and from school. Should any student behave in any manner deemed inappropriate, cause damage or put the safety of anyone on board the coach as risk, then disciplinary measures will be taken. Such disciplinary measures may include:

  • Cleaning the coach
  • Refunding the cost of damage caused
  • Suspension of the use of transport for one or more days. Such suspension may also be indefinite. If students are suspended from transport, yet they are not excused from attending school as normal.

Acceptable behaviour

  • Stay seating throughout the whole journey.
  • No swapping of places during the trip.
  • No shouting or other behaviour that might distract the driver.
  • No use of electronic devices whatsoever.
  • Students are to always take the route assigned to them and lanyard displaying the route must be worn while boarding and getting off the coach.
